-------------------------------------
Wilkie Jay started out playing music in 1999 in North East Oklahoma and was performing on stages in 2000 and on. Over the years of learning, performing, and settling into his style on acoustic guitar and bass guitar he has performed hundreds of shows over the midwest four states area and still looking to expand and perform more!
Being in different bands acoustically and on bass guitar, Wilkie has had wonderful opportunities to open up for national touring acts like: Alien Ant Farm, Hed P.E., Frickin' A, Cherry Monroe, Ben Miller Band, Stoney Larue, Bo Phillips Band, Jackson Taylor and the Sinners, John D. Hale, and BC and the Big Rig.
Wilkie has been a part of several different groups over the years, starting out in 1999 while in high school jamming with new friends from a neighboring town they formed a trio pop punk group named Fiasco and was playing small shows and skateparks around the North East Oklahoma area.
A few years later after the first band ended, Wilkie met several musicians looking to form a band. Forming the band Macon they went on to play hundreds of shows around the four states. The band was around for five years and throughout the years the sound grew more and more. The band eventually achieved signing with a promotions company out of New England that released the first ep, "Don't Let Grudges Go". By being with the promotions company, Macon was able to be a part of the Grammy Awards under 3 categories. Given they did not get the votes to make it to the final round, it still was an exciting time which later helped in receiving opening act opportunities for national acts.
After Macon ended there was several years for family until 2010 when the singer from Fiasco and Wilkie went on to form another band -Jonny Wood and the Common Good, a folk punk band with Wilkie on bass guitar. From there led Wilkie to some fill in opportunities with other bands.
In 2017, a blast from the past Macon days resurfaced looking to form a new band. After meeting, talking, and performing some music together they were off to create a new band. Soon after Wilkie Jay and the Heat was born. Put together by the cosmos, the band set forth to take the local scene by storm over the next three years until the pandemic occurred. The band disbanded during this time. Once the shut down lifted Wilkie went back to performing acoustically around the area full steam until being approached to get back on the bass guitar for a local band.
That band was the Jeff Tatum Band which was a different style and learning experience with country music. Over time, member changes, and then the name turned into Constant Chaos. For the past three years, Wilkie has performed with Constant Chaos until their final show at the end of 2023.
Now in 2024, Wilkie is looking forward to all the opportunities music and life shall bring. Many acoustic opportunities awaits along with some band opportunities too!
